Kunyu Mountain Shaolin Martial Arts Academy Review

This is my kungfu experiences on Youtube, you can take a look at my Kunyu Mountain Shaolin Martial Arts Academy Review?

My name is Ramy Kandil. Im from Cairo, Egypt. I have been training in kunyu mountain martial arts academy for a year and 9 months which had started on the 24th of November 2016. I had initially come here for a year of training but then decided to extend for an additional year.

I came here with some martial arts experience. I trained Brazilian Jiu jitsu for 2 years, and MMA for a couple of months. Besides that I’m a fairly active person.

When I first found out about the academy there wasn’t too much I could find online about the place and I hadn’t left Egypt for over 10 years so I didn’t really know what to expect. But now there are bunch of student reviews on the academy’s youtube page  and  facebook I believe.

So I have been here for a year and 9 months, I trained with the shaolin group under Shifu Meng for a year and 2 months. Then I decided to change to the Sanda group which is chinese kickboxing. Within the time I spent training in the shaolin group I had really enjoyed it as I had never trained kung fu before. It consisted of a lot of kicking, stance training, learning fist and weapon forms, loads of stretching and strength training. I would definitely advise anyone planning on coming here to be in good shape if you want to get the most out of it in the least amount of time especially if you’re not planning on staying for long. During my time training under shifu Meng I had learned so much in regards to discipline, marital arts morality, and how far I was able to push myself physically and mentally.
Around July 2018 I started preparing for the annual sanda competition which is held in the nearby city of yantai, and had decided to join the newly formed Sanda group Lead by Shifu Gao. I always had a lot of respect for Shifu Gao was very excited to train under him. Since then I decided to stay in the sanda group as I felt it was more of a style of combat I enjoyed learning and is definitely more applicable in reality then most of the other styles offered in the academy. We still learned shaolin forms though and practiced shaolin basics every week in addition to the sanda training which I was really happy about. The more I learn the better. All the masters here are of the highest level and are extremely competent on how to teach martial arts to all kinds of people whether you have experience or not. Every day I’m amazed by the things they are able to do.

Over the period I have spent here I have learned so much about myself and what I want to do in life. Before coming here I had no idea what I wanted to do, I had just graduated from university and was looking for a place to escape reality for a bit and re-evaluate what I want to make of my life and at the same time practice marital arts as it has always been a passion of mine. I decided on coming to Kunyu shan and im so happy I had made that decision. It’s here were I was able to really embrace who I am and figure out that I want to get certified as a Marital arts coach and teach back home, with the future plan of opening up my own academy at some point which would provide the opportunity to share with everyone the experiences I have gained here. In addition to that the changes that I have experienced on a physical and mental level were something I hadn’t anticipated.

From my personal point of view, I love this place and consider it my second home. Over the time I’ve spent here, I came to really understand appreciate the chinese culture and the life style. The academy is well equipped with everything you need in regards to daily life or training. The staffs here are always trying their hardest to satisfy everyone’s needs and keep everyone happy. There have been quite a few changes made in the academy, starting with the upgrading of training facilities, the renovation of all the bathrooms in the old building, they’ve changed all the heating systems on the campus, and still have plans to change and update so much more to make it as convenient and comfortable as possible to accommodate foreign students. The academy is located in a perfect area surrounded by farm land and mountains. The pollution is very tolerable in comparison to other cities in China. One thing I must mention as well is all the amazing people that you meet here from all over the world. It is definitely one of the greatest assets. Especially that everyone here lives together within close quarters, just makes it feel like a huge family. Everyone is so helpful and nice, it really is amazing.
